Integrator's spec recap
The Siemens SENTRON 5SY5263-6KK11 is a 2-pole miniature circuit breaker with B tripping characteristic, rated 63 A at 400 V AC and 440 V DC. Breaking capacity is 10 kA per EN 60898 at AC, and 10 kA per EN 60898-2 at DC — sufficient for most sub-distribution boards in commercial and light industrial panels. The B curve means it trips at 3–5× rated current, suited for resistive and general-purpose loads where inrush is modest; it is not the first choice for motor circuits with high starting currents. Rated for universal current (AC/DC), so it handles DC control circuits up to 440 V without derating the breaking capacity — a useful trait in panels mixing AC distribution and DC auxiliary supplies. Overvoltage category III means it is rated for fixed installation downstream of the main distribution board, not for plug-in equipment.
Panel fit and wiring
Width is 36 mm (2 width units on a standard DIN rail), installation depth 70 mm, overall depth 76 mm. Mounting position is any; the quick-assembly system clips onto the rail without tools. Terminals accept solid or stranded conductors from 0.75 mm² up to 35 mm² — enough for the 63 A feed-through. Top and bottom terminals are combined (clamp-type), and the unit is sealable for tamper-proofing after commissioning. IP20 with connected conductors — standard for enclosed panel mounting; not rated for wet or dusty environments without an outer enclosure. Ambient temperature range -40 to +70 °C covers most indoor and outdoor cabinet installations, though the thermal-magnetic trip characteristic shifts with temperature; the humidity derating curve (max 95% RH up to 55 °C, then decreasing) should be noted for sealed cabinets in tropical climates.
Compliance and documentation
Designed for railway applications per the product designation, though it carries standard EN 60898 / EN 60898-2 breaking capacity ratings rather than a dedicated railway standard like EN 50155. Halogen-free and silicon-free construction — relevant for clean-room or low-outgassing installations. Touch protection is integral (finger-safe terminals when wired). The product is classified per DIN EN 61346-2 and DIN EN 81346-2 as function code F (protective device).
