Siemens SENTRON 5SY6016-7 — C-curve 16 A MCB, 1+N-pole, 6 kA
The Siemens SENTRON 5SY6016-7 is a 1+N-pole miniature circuit breaker rated 16 A with C-curve tripping characteristic and 6 kA breaking capacity per EN 60898 at 230 V AC. Rated current holds at 16 A up to 30 °C ambient; derate to 15.04 A at 40 °C and 14.56 A at 45 °C (–). The 1+N-pole configuration switches both line and neutral, with neutral opening on fault. This is required in many residential and light-commercial panels for full isolation. The neutral pole is not overcurrent-protected — it follows the line pole mechanically.
DIN-rail fit and panel integration
Single modular width (18 mm) means one 18 mm slot per pole — the 1+N assembly occupies 18 mm total, not 36 mm. Mounting position is any orientation. Overall dimensions: 90 mm height, 18 mm width, 76 mm depth (–). Installation depth is 70 mm. The 76 mm depth includes the breaker body plus the terminal arc — verify clearance against the enclosure backplate and gland plate. Sealable design allows locking the toggle in the OFF position for lockout/tagout compliance. Touch protection is built in.
Vibration resistance per IEC 60068-2-6.
For installations with higher prospective fault current, upstream backup protection (a larger MCB or fuse) must be coordinated. The C-curve's magnetic trip at 5–10× In (80–160 A for the 16 A variant) provides good discrimination against downstream 10 A or 6 A C-curve breakers in a distribution board.
