What it is and what the ratings mean
The Siemens 5SY6025-6KL is a SENTRON miniature circuit breaker (MCB) rated 25 A at 230 V AC with a B-curve tripping characteristic and a 6 kA breaking capacity per EN 60898. The B-curve means it trips between 3 and 5 times rated current — standard for resistive and general-purpose loads where inrush is low, like lighting circuits, socket outlets, and control transformers. The 6 kA rating tells you it can safely interrupt a fault current up to that level at 230 V without welding contacts or failing to clear; that's the standard domestic and light commercial interrupting rating in Europe. The 1P+N configuration switches the phase and breaks the neutral, which is common for single-phase final subcircuits where you want overcurrent protection on the line and a switched neutral for isolation. The 18 mm width (1 width unit) means it snaps onto standard DIN rail and occupies exactly one module position in a distribution board — that's another SKU I don't need to guess about when planning panel fill. Depth is 76 mm, installation depth 70 mm, so it clears most shallow enclosures without a gland-plate conflict.
Where it goes and how it mounts
Mounts on standard DIN rail in any position. The IP20 rating with connected conductors means it is for dry indoor enclosures only. The sealable feature lets you lock the toggle in the ON or OFF position with a padlock hasp — useful for lockout/tagout on a dedicated machine circuit without pulling the whole board cover.
