What this 0.5 A D-curve MCB is for
The Siemens 5SY6105-8 is a 1-pole miniature circuit breaker from the SENTRON 5SY6 series, rated 0.5 A at 400 V AC with a D tripping characteristic. The 0.5 A rating is a low-current branch; you'd see it protecting a control transformer primary or a small power supply, not a main feeder.
At 0.5 A, the let-through energy is low, so selectivity with a larger upstream MCB or fuse is generally easy to achieve — but verify the I²t coordination curves if you're stacking multiple 5SY6 breakers downstream of a single feeder.
Single width unit at 18 mm, so it takes one DIN-rail slot. Depth is 76 mm, height 90 mm — standard 5SY6 footprint. Combined top and bottom terminals mean you can feed from either direction without a special busbar. IP20 with conductors connected — no washdown rating, keep it inside the enclosure.
Approvals and documentation
Rated per EN 60898 and IEC 60947-2, with a UL 1077 / CSA C22.2 No. 235 listing at 5 kA for the North American market. Touch protection is built into the terminals. Sealable design allows lockout/tagout. Compliance documentation (CE, UKCA, EAC) is standard with the series; RoHS and REACH declarations are available from Siemens.
