The Siemens SENTRON 5SY6115-7CC is a 1-pole miniature circuit breaker with C-curve tripping characteristic, rated 1.6 A at 230/400 V AC, 50/60 Hz. Its 6 kA breaking capacity per EN 60898 covers standard residential and light commercial fault levels. The 18 mm width (1 modular unit) snaps onto DIN rail and occupies one slot in a distribution board.
What the ratings mean for fit
The C-curve (trips at 5–10× rated current) is the standard choice for mixed resistive and moderate inductive loads — lighting circuits, small motor starters, control transformers. At 1.6 A it protects a branch circuit drawing up to 368 VA on a 230 V line. The 6 kA breaking capacity means it safely interrupts a short-circuit fault up to that prospective current without welding contacts or rupturing the case, per EN 60898. For UL 1077 supplementary protection the rating is 5 kA. Temperature derating is built in: at 40 °C ambient the breaker carries 1.5 A, at 50 °C it carries 1.4 A. In a crowded enclosure with multiple breakers ganged, factor that derating into the load calculation — the 1.6 A nameplate holds only at 35 °C.
Panel integration notes
Mounts in any position on DIN rail via the quick-assembly system. Depth is 76 mm, installation depth 70 mm. The IP20 rating (with connected conductors) means it is protected against finger contact but not washdown — standard for dry indoor distribution boards. Combined top and bottom terminals accept the same conductor range; the sealable cover allows the installer to lock the handle position after commissioning.
Approvals and compliance
Rated per EN 60898 (6 kA) and UL 1077 / CSA C22.2 No. 235 (5 kA). Halogen-free and silicon-free construction. Pollution degree 3, overvoltage category III. The product designation per IEC 81346-2 and DIN EN 61346-2 is F (protective device).
