The 5SY6205-8 is a 2-pole miniature circuit breaker from the Siemens SENTRON 5SY6 series, rated 0.5 A with a D tripping characteristic. On a 400 V AC line (rated value, 50/60 Hz), it clears faults at 6 kA per EN 60898 for standard branch-circuit protection, and up to 30 kA per IEC 60947-2 when used in industrial distribution with higher prospective fault current. The 0.5 A rating is the continuous thermal current; any sustained overload above that will trip the bimetal element on the thermal curve. Terminal capacity accepts solid or stranded conductors from 0.75 to 35 mm² — enough for the supply side even with the low 0.5 A rating, useful when the breaker is fed from a larger upstream conductor. IP20 with connected conductors; touch protection is built in.
Deployment context
Rated for mechanical engineering and industrial environments. The D-curve and 30 kA SCCR make it a fit for machine-tool control panels, conveyor distribution boards, and pump starter enclosures where the breaker must ride through motor inrush without nuisance tripping. Halogen-free and silicon-free construction suits clean-room or coated-panel requirements.
