Siemens 5SY6205-8CC — 0.5 A D-Curve MCB for High-Inrush Loads
The Siemens 5SY6205-8CC is a SENTRON 5SY6 series miniature circuit breaker rated 0.5 A at 400 V AC with a D tripping characteristic. Breaking capacity is 6 kA per EN 60898 (IEC 60898) and 5 kA per UL 1077 / CSA C22.2 No. 235, which covers the standard industrial panel fault-current range for a 0.5 A branch; in a 400 V distribution board with a transformer upstream, this breaker clears a bolted fault up to 6 kA without the arc transferring to the busbar. The 2-pole design occupies 2 MW (36 mm) on the DIN rail, with a depth of 76 mm and an installation depth of 70 mm.
Terminal Capacity and Environmental Range
Terminals accept solid and stranded conductors from 0.75 mm² up to 35 mm² — enough for a 0.5 A circuit where the loop impedance often dictates a larger cross-section than the load current needs; the screw terminals torque to 2.5–3.5 N·m, and combined terminals (top and bottom) allow daisy-chaining without separate distribution blocks. Ambient operating range is -25 °C to +55 °C, with storage from -40 °C to +75 °C; humidity tolerance is 95% at 55 °C, derating to 35% at 75 °C — the breaker is at home in a non-condensing panel in a warm factory, but not in a sealed cabinet with a heat source directly below it.
