At 32 A rated current (AC) and 400 V, it covers a solid range of 3-phase and single-phase subfeeds in a 400/415 V network. The 5SY6232-8 carries 6 kA per EN 60898 (the domestic/light-commercial standard) and 15 kA per IEC 60947-2 (the industrial standard). For UL-marked panels, it also lists 5 kA under UL 1077 / CSA C22.2 No.235, so verify the available fault current if the job spec requires UL-listed supplementary protectors.
The quick-assembly mounting system (Siemens' tool-free snap-on) and combined top/bottom terminals speed up panel wiring. Mounting position is unrestricted: vertical, horizontal, or inverted, so it doesn't force a specific orientation in a crowded enclosure. IP20 with connected conductors — finger-safe when wired, but not protected against dripping water or dust ingress.
Environmental range and derating
But the breaker's current-carrying capacity derates with temperature and humidity: the spec table shows max 95% RH up to 55 °C, then 55% up to 70 °C, then 35% up to 75 °C.
