The Siemens SENTRON 5SY6332-8CC is a 3-pole miniature circuit breaker with a D tripping characteristic, rated 32 A at 35 °C and 440 V AC multi-phase. Per the datasheet, the D curve means it tolerates short-duration inrush currents up to 10–20× rated current — suited for motor-starting or transformer loads where a B or C curve would nuisance-trip. The interrupting capacity is 6 kA per EN 60898, adequate for most commercial and light industrial panelboards. Pollution degree 3 and overvoltage category III place it in fixed installations with conductive contamination possible.
Thermal derating and panel integration
The 5SY6332-8CC is rated 32 A at 35 °C, but the continuous current derates to 30.08 A at 40 °C, 29.09 A at 45 °C, 28.03 A at 50 °C, and 26.94 A at 55 °C. If the panel ambient runs above 35 °C — common in a sealed enclosure with other heat sources — the load must be reduced accordingly. The breaker occupies 3 modular width units (54 mm wide) and mounts in any position via the quick-assembly system. Depth is 76 mm with an installation depth of 70 mm; IP20 with connected conductors means it is protected against finger contact but not moisture, so keep it inside a rated enclosure. The combined terminal top and bottom accept both busbar and conductor connections.
