Breaking capacity and selectivity
The 5SY6614-7 carries two breaking capacity ratings: 6 kA per EN 60898 and 30 kA per IEC 60947-2. The EN 60898 figure governs residential and light commercial distribution boards; the IEC 60947-2 figure applies when the MCB is used in industrial control panels where the prospective short-circuit current is higher. The DC rating per IEC 60947-2 is 15 kA, which matters for DC bus or battery-backed circuits. The C characteristic (5–10× In magnetic trip) suits moderate inrush loads like small motor starters or transformer primaries.
Derating and environmental range
Rated current of 0.3 A at 35 °C derates to 0.28 A at 45 °C, 0.27 A at 50 °C, and 0.26 A at 55 °C. The ambient operating range spans –40 °C to 75 °C, with humidity limits of 95% at 55 °C tapering to 35% at 75 °C. Degree of pollution 3 and overvoltage category III suit the MCB for installation in industrial enclosures where conductive dust or condensation may be present. IP20 with connected conductors means the terminals are finger-safe once wired; the busbar comb remains exposed unless the panel cover is closed.
Mounting and wiring
Snap-on mounting to DIN rail with a quick-assembly system; the installation depth is 70 mm, overall depth 76 mm. Combined terminals at both top and bottom accept the busbar and outgoing conductors. The MCB is sealable (tamper-evident cover available) and halogen- and silicon-free — relevant for clean-room or corrosive-environment installations. Any mounting position is permitted, and the supply cord can enter from either end.
