It's built to protect branch circuits in industrial control panels — think lighting, small motor starters, or control transformers — where the inrush isn't severe enough to need a D curve but exceeds what a B curve would tolerate. Under UL 1077 it's rated 5 kA, so if the panel is built to North American code, that's the ceiling.
Panel fit and derating
Mount in any position; pollution degree 3 means it's fine in a typical industrial enclosure without sealed cabinets. Watch the thermal derating: at 40 °C it's 0.93 A, at 50 °C it's 0.85 A, at 55 °C it's 0.8 A. The C curve trips between 5× and 10× rated current, so a 1 A breaker clears a 10 A fault in under 0.1 s, which covers most motor inrush and capacitor bank scenarios.
