Integrator's spec recap
The Siemens 5SY7106-7CC is a 1-pole SENTRON miniature circuit breaker rated 6 A with a C tripping characteristic. It delivers a 30 kA breaking capacity per IEC 60947-2 at 440 V AC, which means it can safely interrupt fault currents up to that level without upstream damage — a key figure for panel coordination studies. The C-curve (5–10× In) handles moderate inrush from motor starters and small transformers without nuisance tripping, while the 6 A rating at 35 °C derates to 5.56 A at 40 °C and 4.82 A at 55 °C, so the thermal environment in the enclosure governs the actual load it can carry. Snaps onto a standard DIN rail via the quick assembly system and occupies a single modular width (18 mm), which makes it a direct fit for any SENTRON or third-party distribution board using the same 18 mm pitch. Mounting position is unrestricted, and the combined top and bottom terminals accept both busbar and conductor connections.
Environmental and compliance notes
Rated for pollution degree 3 and overvoltage category III, so it suits industrial control panels where conductive dust or condensation may be present. The housing is halogen-free and silicon-free, which matters for applications sensitive to outgassing — clean rooms, medical equipment, or sealed enclosures near sensitive electronics. IP20 protection applies only with connected conductors, meaning the busbar stabs and terminals are finger-safe once wired but the breaker itself is not sealed against water ingress.
