The Siemens SENTRON 5SY7205-8CC is a 2-pole miniature circuit breaker (MCB) with a D tripping characteristic, rated 0.5 A at 400 V AC. The 50 kA breaking capacity at 400 V (per IEC 60947-2) tells you it can safely interrupt a fault current up to that level without welding contacts or cascading failure upstream; that's a serious interrupting rating for a 0.5 A device, so it's sized for high-fault-capacity panels, not residential subboards. Under UL 1077 and CSA C22.2 No. 235 the breaking capacity is 5 kA — a different standard, not a derating of the IEC figure. If your BOM specifies UL-listed branch circuit protection, that 5 kA figure governs the SCCR contribution; the IEC 50 kA applies where the local code accepts IEC 60947-2 listing.
