Rated for motor and transformer inrush — D-curve selectivity
The Siemens 5SY7232-8CC is a 2-pole miniature circuit breaker from the SENTRON 5SY7CC series, rated 32 A at 400 V AC with a D tripping characteristic. The D-curve (10–20× In magnetic trip) is specified for loads with high inrush currents — motor starters, small transformers, and power supplies — where a B or C curve would nuisance-trip on startup. The 20 kA breaking capacity per IEC 60947-2 gives fault-clearing headroom in industrial panels fed from a transformer of typical impedance; the UL 1077 / CSA supplementary protector rating of 5 kA covers North American branch-circuit applications.
DIN-rail footprint and terminal capacity
Width 36 mm (2 MW), height 90 mm, depth 76 mm, installation depth 70 mm — fits standard DIN-rail enclosures. The combined top and bottom terminals accept solid or stranded conductors from 0.75 to 35 mm²; tightening torque 2.5 to 3.5 N·m. Mounting position is any, and the quick-assembly system snaps onto the rail without tools. IP20 with connected conductors; touch protection is integral per the design.
Sourcing and cross-reference
Sourced and quoted to order against an RFQ through independent distribution channels. For a functional cross-reference within the same SENTRON 5SY7CC family, the 5SY7140-8CC is a 1-pole 40 A D-curve variant — same terminal capacity and breaking capacity, but single-pole only. The 5SY7210-7CC is a 2-pole 10 A C-curve variant from the same series. Neither is a drop-in substitute for the 32 A 2-pole D-curve rating; verify the pole count, current, and trip characteristic against your BOM before specifying.
