Key ratings and what they mean for fit
The 5SY7316-7CC: The C-curve trips at 5 to 10 times rated current, making it the standard choice for motor circuits, transformers, and lighting with moderate inrush — common in mechanical engineering and industrial panel applications. The 25 kA breaking capacity per IEC 60947-2 means it can safely interrupt fault currents up to that level under the standard's test conditions, which is the rating that governs coordination with upstream switchgear. For UL 1077 / CSA C22.2 No. 235 installations, the interrupting rating is 5 kA. Operating temperature range is -40 °C to 75 °C, with humidity derating above 55 °C. Pollution degree 3 and overvoltage category III suit it for industrial environments where conductive pollution or transient overvoltages are expected. The housing is halogen-free and silicon-free, important for environments sensitive to outgassing (e.g., clean rooms, food processing). Depth is 76 mm; installation depth is 70 mm behind the panel face. Combined terminals top and bottom accept supply from any position.
Panel integration notes
Mounts on DIN rail in any position. At 3 modular units wide (54 mm), it occupies standard panel space. The quick assembly system clips on and off without tools. Supplementary devices (auxiliary contacts, shunt trips, alarm switches) can be added on the side per the manufacturer's accessory range. Power loss is 1.8 W per pole at rated current in hot state — account for this in enclosure thermal calculations.
