Integrator note — 5SY7340-6
The Siemens 5SY7340-6 is a 3-pole miniature circuit breaker from the SENTRON series, rated 40 A with a B-curve tripping characteristic. It breaks 15 kA per EN 60898 and 20 kA per IEC 60947-2, giving headroom for high-fault installations. The 54 mm width (3 modular units) fits standard DIN-rail enclosures; mounting position is any, so it works in vertical or horizontal panel layouts. IP20 with connected conductors means it belongs inside a closed panel — not for wet or dusty environments.
Thermal derating and ambient range
The 40 A rating holds at 35 °C. At 40 °C it derates to 38.4 A, at 50 °C to 36.76 A, and at 60 °C to 35.04 A. The operating ambient range spans -40 °C to 75 °C, covering outdoor cabinets in cold climates and warm enclosures near machinery.
Physical fit and installation
Depth is 76 mm, installation depth 70 mm; height is 90 mm. The quick-assembly fastening system clips onto DIN rail without tools. Combined terminals at top and bottom accept supply from either side. Sealable and touch-protected, with halogen-free and silicon-free construction — suited for clean-room or food-bev panels where outgassing matters.
