What it is and what it does
The SENTRON 5SY7363-7CC is a 3-pole miniature circuit breaker rated 63 A at 40 °C with a C tripping characteristic, designed for AC distribution at 50/60 Hz up to 440 V (multi-phase). Its 20 kA breaking capacity per IEC 60947-2 means it can safely interrupt fault currents up to that level without upstream cascading — a key spec for panel coordination studies. Rated for overvoltage category III and pollution degree 3, it suits industrial control panels and main distribution boards where transient overvoltages and conductive dust are present. The C-curve (5–10× In magnetic trip) handles moderate inrush from motor starters and transformer banks without nuisance tripping.
Mounting and integration
Snaps onto DIN rail via the quick assembly system; 3 modular width units (54 mm) at 76 mm depth. Any mounting position is allowed, and the combined top/bottom terminals accept both feed-through and loop-through wiring without extra accessories. Sealable enclosure, halogen-free and silicon-free construction — relevant for clean-room or food-production environments where outgassing contaminants are a concern. IP20 with connected conductors; install inside a rated enclosure for washdown areas.
Thermal derating and real-world current
The 63 A rating holds at 35 °C ambient. At 40 °C it derates to 59.54 A, at 45 °C to 57.71 A, at 50 °C to 55.82 A, and at 55 °C to 53.86 A. If your panel internal ambient runs above 35 °C, size the upstream protection or load accordingly — the nameplate 63 A is not the continuous rating at elevated temperature.
