The Siemens 5SY7415-7 is a SENTRON 4-pole miniature circuit breaker rated at 1.6 A with a C tripping characteristic. It breaks fault currents up to 15 kA per EN 60898 and 50 kA per IEC 60947-2, which means it handles high prospective fault levels typical in industrial panelboards and distribution boards without needing an upstream current-limiting fuse. Rated for 50/60 Hz AC circuits, this MCB snaps onto a DIN rail via the quick assembly system and fits any mounting position. The 4-pole (4P) configuration switches all three phases plus neutral, making it suitable for three-phase branch circuits where neutral protection is required. The C-curve trips between 5 and 10 times rated current, so it tolerates moderate inrush from small motors or transformers while still clearing a hard fault fast. At 1.6 A it is sized for lighting, control transformers, or small heater circuits — not for motor branch circuits that need a D-curve.
Integration & mounting
Occupies 4 modular width units (72 mm wide) on a DIN rail. Depth is 76 mm, installation depth 70 mm — standard for a 4-pole MCB in a distribution board. The combined terminal design accepts top and bottom wiring without special adapters. IP20 with connected conductors; pollution degree 3 and overvoltage category III suit it for fixed-installation panels in industrial environments. Sealable, halogen-free, and silicon-free construction. Touch protection is built in. Operating temperature range from -40 °C to 75 °C covers most indoor and sheltered outdoor enclosures.
Thermal derating
Rated current is 1.6 A at 35 °C ambient. Derate to 1.54 A at 40 °C, 1.5 A at 45 °C, 1.47 A at 50 °C, 1.44 A at 55 °C, and 1.4 A at 60 °C. If the panel interior runs warm, size the load accordingly — the 1.6 A nameplate is only valid up to 35 °C.
