Product details

The Siemens SENTRON 5SY7463-8 is a 4-pole miniature circuit breaker (MCB) with a D tripping characteristic, rated 63 A at 35 °C ambient and 400 V AC. It breaks fault currents up to 15 kA per both EN 60898 and IEC 60947-2, and the same 15 kA rating holds for DC faults per IEC 60947-2. The D-curve means it's built for loads with high inrush — think motor starting, transformers, or welding equipment. It tolerates a brief surge several times the 63 A rating without nuisance tripping, then clears a hard fault fast. That 15 kA SCCR gives you headroom for most industrial distribution panels without worrying about cascading failures upstream. Rated current derates with ambient temperature: 58.4 A at 45 °C, 56.83 A at 50 °C, 55.12 A at 55 °C, and 53.42 A at 60 °C. If your panel runs hot — and most do near the top of the enclosure — size your load against the derated number, not the 35 °C figure.

Mounting position is any — vertical, horizontal, flat — which helps when you're squeezing breakers into a crowded panel. IP20 with connected conductors — fine inside a panel, not for washdown or outdoors without a secondary enclosure. Sealable, halogen-free, silicon-free construction matters for sensitive environments like food processing or semiconductor fabs where outgassing can't happen.
