63 A D-curve MCB for high-inrush loads
The Siemens 5SY7563-8 is a SENTRON miniature circuit breaker rated 63 A at 230 V AC with a D tripping characteristic, meaning it tolerates the high inrush currents typical of motor starters, transformers, and discharge lighting without nuisance trips — the magnetic trip threshold sits at 10–20× rated current, so it passes the start-up spike and clears only on a hard fault. Breaking capacity is 15 kA per IEC 60898 and IEC 60947-2, with a separate 5 kA rating under UL 1077 and CSA C22.2 No.235 — the UL figure governs installations in North American control panels where the available fault current stays under 5 kA; the 15 kA IEC figure applies in European distribution boards. Two-pole 1P+N configuration switches both line and neutral, with the neutral pole switching but not protecting — the overcurrent trip acts only on the phase conductor. Rated for overvoltage category III, so it's suited for fixed-installation downstream of the utility meter.
DIN-rail fit and wiring
Width is 36 mm (2 width units), depth 76 mm, height 90 mm — snaps onto standard 35 mm DIN rail via the quick-assembly system. Installation depth 70 mm leaves clearance behind the rail for wiring. Mounting position any, so vertical or horizontal orientation in the panel is fine. Terminals accept solid or stranded conductors from 0.75 mm² up to 35 mm², with combined top and bottom terminals that allow through-wiring for daisy-chaining downstream loads. IP20 with conductors connected — open-front protection only; keep live terminals behind a panel door or cover. Sealable enclosure option and touch protection built in. Halogen-free and silicon-free construction, so it won't outgas corrosive compounds in sealed enclosures or near sensitive electronics.
Lifecycle and compliance
Ambient temperature range -40 to +70 °C, with humidity derating above 55 °C: max 95% RH up to 55 °C, then 55% RH at 70 °C, then 35% RH at 75 °C. Storage range -40 to +75 °C covers warehouse and transport extremes. Functional letter per DIN EN 61346-2 and DIN EN 81346-2 is F — protective device. Suitable for mechanical engineering and industry applications per the manufacturer's classification.
