It is a magnetic-only trip device — no thermal bimetal — designed for short-circuit protection of circuits with high inrush currents, such as motor feeders or transformer primaries. This SCCR handles high-fault industrial panels without cascading upstream. The D-curve means the magnetic trip threshold is 10–20× In (100–200 A), so it rides through motor start-up without nuisance tripping. Use it where a standard B or C curve would false-trip on inrush.
