The Siemens 5TT5001-2 is a SENTRON Insta contactor with a single-pole normally-open and a single-pole normally-closed contact set. It's built for switching resistive and motor loads up to 20 A at 400 V AC, with a 230 V AC coil and a 24 V DC control circuit — so it handles line-voltage actuation while the logic side runs on a standard 24 V DC supply from a PLC or relay card.
DIN-rail fit and panel integration
The 5TT5001-2 occupies one modular-width unit (17.5 mm) on a DIN rail, with a depth of 71 mm and a height of 90 mm. That single-width footprint is tight for a contactor with both NO and NC poles — it fits in a crowded enclosure where every slot counts. The IP20 protection class means it's intended for enclosed panels, not washdown or outdoor locations. Note the installation note: spacers are required between units to allow heat dissipation, so don't pack them tight without the recommended air gap.
Coil and control voltage
The main coil is rated for 230 V AC only — that's the line voltage that pulls the armature in. The control circuit, however, accepts both AC and DC, with a 24 V DC rated value. That dual-voltage control winding is useful when you're mixing 24 V DC PLC outputs with a 230 V AC power circuit; the contactor bridges the two domains without an intermediate relay. Power loss per pole is 1.7 W in hot operating state at rated current, so the heat load is modest but real in a sealed enclosure.
