Siemens 5TT5052-2 SENTRON Insta Contactor — Panel Integration Note
The Siemens 5TT5052-2 is a SENTRON Insta contactor rated for 400 V AC switching with a 24 V AC/DC coil, carrying 2 normally-open and 2 normally-closed contacts. The 63 A rating on the power side means it handles resistive and moderate inductive loads in distribution panels — think lighting banks, heater circuits, or small transformer primaries. The 24 V AC/DC coil simplifies control wiring: one coil supply works whether your PLC output is AC or DC, so no separate coil-voltage conversion is needed on the panel door. At 3 modular width units (53.5 mm wide), it occupies three standard 18 mm DIN-rail slots. The 71 mm depth and 90 mm height fit within a typical 200 mm deep enclosure, but the installation note requires spacers between units for heat dissipation — the 8 W per pole at rated current adds up, so don't pack these tight without the specified air gap. IP20 finger-safe terminals suit enclosed panel mounting; no washdown rating here, so keep it inside the cabinet.
Mounting & Thermal Management — Spacer Requirement
Snap onto 35 mm DIN rail per EN 60715. The critical detail: spacers are required between adjacent contactors for heat dissipation. The 8 W per pole at rated current means a bank of three units side-by-side without gaps will exceed the thermal design. Plan for at least the manufacturer-specified spacing, or derate the current if the panel layout forces tight packing.
