What it is and what the ratings mean
The Siemens 5TT5830-1 is a SENTRON Insta contactor — a compact, modular switching device designed for DIN-rail mounting in distribution boards and control panels. It carries 4 normally open (NO) contacts and is rated for an operational current of 25 A at up to 440 V AC, with a 115 V AC coil. The 25 A rating is the continuous current the main contacts can handle in AC duty; the 440 V maximum is the highest system voltage the contactor can safely interrupt. The 115 V AC control voltage means the coil is energized by a standard 115 V AC supply — common in North American control circuits — and the contactor pulls in when that voltage is applied. IP20 protection means it's safe against finger contact but not sealed against moisture or dust, so it belongs in an enclosure or panel, not out in a washdown environment.
Where it fits and how it mounts
This contactor snaps onto a standard DIN rail and occupies 2 modular width units (36 mm wide), with a depth of 71 mm and height of 90 mm. That 36 mm footprint is the key dimension for panel layout — it takes up two 18 mm slots in a typical distribution board. The 71 mm depth means it clears most shallow enclosures, but check your gland plate clearance if the panel is tight. The 4 NO contacts give you four independent switched circuits, all closing when the coil is energized; there are no NC contacts on this variant. The switching capacity for incandescent lamp loads is rated at 2,000 W, which is useful for lighting contactor applications.
