The Siemens 5TT5840-6 is a SENTRON Insta contactor with 4 normally open (NO) contacts, designed for switching resistive and incandescent lamp loads up to 4000 W. The coil is rated 230 V AC, and the main contacts switch 40 A at 400 V AC — a common fit for lighting panels, HVAC contactor banks, and general-purpose switching in commercial distribution boards.
Mounting and Heat Dissipation
The manufacturer explicitly requires spacers between adjacent devices for heat dissipation — pack them tight without airflow and the 4 W per-pole power loss (16 W total at rated load) will accumulate. IP20 finger-safe housing suits enclosed panel mounting, not open washdown areas.
Contact Configuration and Coil Voltage
