The Siemens 6AG1132-4BD32-2AA0 is a 4-channel digital output module for the S7-300 system, delivering 2 A per channel from a 24 VDC supply drawn from the backplane bus. Each output is a transistor type with short-circuit protection, so a faulted load won't cascade across the module or take out the backplane fuse. The 15 mm wide module fits a single slot in the S7-300 rail, and the 1.6 W typical power loss means the thermal load on the enclosure is modest even with all four channels running at rated current.
Switching speeds and load types
The module switches resistive loads up to 1 000 Hz, but inductive loads at 0.5 H are limited to 2 Hz, and lamp loads to 10 Hz. The turn-on delay is 50 µs typical (45 µs), turn-off 120 µs typical (90 µs) — fast enough for most valve and contactor banks, but not for high-speed indexing or PWM. The response threshold for overload detection sits between 2.8 and 7.2 A, so a sustained 4 A per-module limit trips the protection before the output transistor exceeds its SOA.
Temperature range and isolation
Isolation between channels and the backplane bus is tested at 500 V DC; there is no channel-to-channel isolation, so all four outputs share a common reference.
Cable length and diagnostics
Unshielded cable runs up to 600 m, shielded up to 1 000 m, so the module handles remote valve islands or motor starters at the far end of a production line without signal degradation. No onboard diagnostics — no channel-level fault LED or bus-based error reporting. The short-circuit protection is the only built-in safeguard; for predictive maintenance, plan on external current monitoring or a downstream motor-protective breaker.
