What it is and what it does
The Siemens 6AG1138-6AA00-2BA0 is a SIPLUS S7-1200 digital I/O module that packs 16 input bytes and 12 output bytes — 4 of those are set aside for motion control — into a 15 mm housing. It runs on 24 V DC (L+ with -0.8 V tolerance) and draws 1 W typical from the backplane. Inputs are 24 V sink/source configurable, with thresholds at -30 to +5 V for signal '0' and +11 to +30 V for signal '1'. Transition time both edges is 50 µs max; minimum pulse width with filtering set to 'none' is 6 µs. There is one counter on board with capture, software gate, and continuous counting — handy for incremental encoders or pulse trains. Diagnostics include wire-break detection, short-circuit check, group error, and diagnostic alarm. The module supports isochronous mode and hardware interrupts. Synchronization and gate start/stop are parameterizable. It also carries I&M data (I&M0 to I&M3) for asset tracking.
