PROFINET CPU with wide-temperature rating
The 6AG1211-1BD30-5XB0: It carries a single PROFINET interface (Ethernet physics) with autocrossing and TCP/IP support, so it connects directly to a plant network without an external media converter or crossover cable. The CPU accepts 24 V DC supply over a permissible range of 20.4 V to 28.8 V — useful when the panel power bus sags under motor starts or long cable runs.
Memory and program capacity
Integrated load memory is 1 Mbyte, expandable via a Siemens Memory Card, so firmware updates or recipe changes don't require swapping the whole CPU. The bit memory address area is 4 kbyte, and the CPU supports forcing of inputs/outputs, memory bits, DBs, distributed I/Os, timers, and counters — useful during commissioning to override a sensor without rewiring. A typical backup time of 240 hours holds the program and retentive data during a power loss, which covers most weekend outages without a battery change.
I/O and programming languages
The CPU addresses up to 1024 bytes of inputs and 1024 bytes of outputs, giving enough process-image space for a compact machine with a few distributed I/O stations. It supports both FBD (Function Block Diagram) and LAD (Ladder Logic) programming, so the same hardware can serve teams that prefer graphical logic or relay-ladder schematics. The 2-wire sensor input is rated for signal '1' at 15 V DC at 2.5 mA and signal '0' at 5 V DC at 1 mA — check these thresholds when mixing 2-wire proximity sensors from different vendors.
It also supports 120 V AC and 230 V AC inputs (isolated), which means the same CPU can be stocked for both 120 V and 230 V line-voltage sensing applications.
