The 6AG1212-1AE40-2XB0 differs from the standard 6ES7212-1AE40-0XB0 primarily in its ambient temperature rating: -40 to 70 °C versus the standard's 0 to 60 °C (typical; see standard datasheet). All other functional specs — PROFINET interface, 24 V DC supply, programming languages, web server, 1 Mbyte load memory, and forced-variable support — are identical. The physical dimensions (90 × 100 × 75 mm) and connector layout are unchanged, so the 6AG variant drops into any panel designed for the standard CPU 1212C without rewiring or mechanical rework.

Mounting dimensions match the standard S7-1200 footprint: 90 mm width, 100 mm height, 75 mm depth. PROFINET is on board — no extra module needed for Ethernet-based control. PROFIBUS requires the CM 1243-5 communication module. The backup time for the real-time clock is typ. 480 h. For signal wiring: 0 to +10 V analog inputs are adjustable; sourcing sensors up to 2-wire type are supported. The web server is enabled by default; configure via TIA Portal.
