Power supply and voltage flexibility
The 6AG1212-1BB23-2XB0: Runs on 24 V DC with a permissible range of 20.4 V to 28.8 V, or directly on 100 V AC to 230 V AC. The dual-rated supply means the same CPU can drop into a 24 V DC control panel or a 120/230 V AC cabinet without a separate power module. Typical power loss is 7 W — manageable in a sealed enclosure but worth checking the thermal budget if the cabinet runs hot. Backup time hits 50 h max (8 h minimum at 40 °C) via the internal capacitor, or 200 days with the optional battery module.
Programming languages and fieldbus interfaces
Supports FBD (function block diagram), LAD (ladder logic), and STL (statement list) — full IEC 61131-3 coverage. The engineering team can pick the language that fits each task: LAD for discrete logic, FBD for signal conditioning, STL for tight loops. Integrated RS 485 interface runs MPI (up to 187.5 kbit/s) and PPI (9.6/19.2/187.5 kbit/s) protocols. The MPI slave mode exchanges data with S7-300/S7-400 CPUs, OPs, and TDs; PPI handles program functions and HMI communication with TD 200 and OP panels. Shielded cable max 500 m, unshielded 150 m.
Physical fit and mounting
The 24 V DC supply is source/sink configurable per group, and inputs accept 2-wire sensors with a '1' signal threshold at min 15 V. High-speed counters run at 30 kHz each, 32-bit, usable as up/down counters or for incremental encoders with A/B quadrature at 20 kHz.
