CPU core and memory sizing
The 6AG1212-1BD30-2XB0: Integrated 1 Mbyte work memory — enough for a medium-sized machine program with several function blocks, PID loops, and a couple of communication libraries. The backup time is 240 h typical, so the remanent data survives a weekend outage without a battery. The entire project is stored maintenance-free in the integral EEPROM — no external memory card required for program retention.
Fieldbus and connectivity
PROFINET interface with TCP/IP support, autocrossing enabled, and up to 15 dynamically configurable connections. It operates as a PROFINET IO controller and server — no PROFIBUS or MODBUS on this unit, so plan your fieldbus topology accordingly. Supports forcing on inputs/outputs, memory bits, DBs, distributed I/Os, timers, and counters — useful for commissioning override without modifying the program logic.
Power supply and environmental range
Runs on 24 V DC with a permissible range of 20.4 V to 28.8 V — also accepts 120 V AC and 230 V AC inputs. The supply is isolated, so it can share a panel with motor drives without ground-loop headaches.
I/O capacity and sensor interface
Input address space 1 024 bytes, output address space 1 024 bytes — plenty for distributed I/O racks over PROFINET. The CPU is not expandable with local signal modules, so all I/O must be remote. Supports 2-wire sensors with a signal '1' threshold of 15 V DC at 2.5 mA — compatible with standard industrial proximity and photoelectric sensors. The bit memory address area is 4 kbyte.
