The 6AG1214-1AE30-4XB0: This SIPLUS variant of the S7-1200 1214C CPU is rated for -40 to 70 °C, so it keeps running when the control room hits 60 °C and the cooling fails. The 24 V supply accepts 20.4 to 28.8 V – a loose enough window for a plant with long cable runs and voltage drop. Holds its program for 240 hours typical without a battery, which matters if the line goes down for a weekend and you don't want to reload. PROFINET is the only fieldbus onboard – no PROFIBUS, no AS-i – so make sure your network headroom fits. 2 MB of integrated memory handles a decent-sized cement kiln logic and PID loops.
