What this CPU delivers in harsh environments
The 6AG1215-1AG40-5XB0: Programming in FBD, LAD, or SCL means no re-engineering if your existing codebase uses any of those languages — the same TIA Portal project can target this variant directly. Communication covers PROFINET (with shared device support for multi-controller setups), MODBUS TCP, UDP, and PROFIBUS via the CM 1243-5 module. The CPU acts as both MODBUS client and server, which simplifies integration with drives, HMIs, or third-party systems. Analog inputs accept 0–10 V and 0–20 mA signals; these are isolated from the CPU supply, so a ground loop on a temperature transmitter won't couple noise into the logic side.
Panel mounting and power
Footprint is 130 mm wide, 100 mm high, 75 mm deep. Direct rail mount. Integrated 4 Mbyte memory holds code and data; watchdog time, retentive data backup, and real-time clock ride through a 480-hour typical backup battery interval.
Signal integrity notes for analog channels
The isolated input stage means field-signal ground and CPU ground can float relative to each other — a common scenario when the transmitter is on a separate DC rail. No floating ground loops, no common-mode noise on the 0–20 mA loop. Input forcing is available for commissioning: you can override the field reading and simulate a value to test downstream logic without crawling to the sensor.
Sourcing this exact variant
This is the SIPLUS extended-temperature version. Operating range is -40 °C to 70 °C.
