The conformal coating protects the board assembly against condensation and airborne contaminants. Memory, backup, and program capacity
Integrated 4 Mbyte load memory gives room for the application code, with bit memory address area up to 8 kbyte. The typical backup time of 480 h holds the retentive data through a weekend power loss without the battery. The number of code blocks is limited only by the available RAM — no artificial block count ceiling. That matters when you're building a large state machine or recipe manager.
Fieldbus and I/O handling
Built-in PROFINET interface with autocrossing (auto MDI/MDI-X) for direct connection to a switch or a second CPU. The same port supports PROFINET IO as client or server, and can run TCP/IP, UDP, and MODBUS TCP simultaneously on the same physical connection. PROFIBUS DP is supported via an external CM module — the CPU itself does not carry a DP port, but the protocol stack is ready. AS-Interface also connects through a CM module. Process image: 1024 bytes inputs and 1024 bytes outputs. Forcing is supported for commissioning. The 2-wire sensor supply delivers 15 V DC at 2.5 mA for signal '1' and 5 V DC at 1 mA for signal '0'.
Programming and engineering
Programmable in LAD, FBD, and SCL — the full TIA Portal language set. The PID controller block is integrated, no separate function block purchase needed. The CPU supports variables covering inputs/outputs, memory bits, DBs, distributed I/Os, timers, and counters. PROFIsafe is not supported on this CPU — if you need safety over PROFINET, step to the F-CPU variant.
Physical fit and power supply
Dimensions: 130 mm wide, 100 mm high, 75 mm deep. The 120/230 V AC power supply is isolated — no external 24 V DC power module required for the CPU itself. The analog inputs accept 0 to +10 V or 0 to 20 mA, adjustable per channel. The shielded twisted-pair cable run is rated for up to 100 m.
