What it is and what it does
The Siemens 6AG1215-1HG40-5XB0 is a SIPLUS variant of the S7-1200 controller, rated for an extended ambient range of -40°C to 70°C. It programs in FBD, LAD, and SCL, and carries PROFINET on board with additional protocol support via add‑on modules.
Integration notes
PROFINET interface supports shared device and autocrossing. For PROFIBUS, fit the CM 1243‑5 module. MODBUS TCP and UDP are handled natively without an extra gateway. Backup time for the real‑time clock and retain data is 480 h typical, covering weekend power outages. Integrated 4 Mbyte load memory is sufficient for mid‑size applications; the bit memory address area is 8 kbyte. Analog inputs handle 0–10 V and 0–20 mA. The built‑in PID controller can be used for simple process loops without an external module.
