8 relay outputs, 2 A per contact — line-down spare decision
The Siemens 6AG1222-1HF32-4XB0 is an 8-channel relay output module for the S7-1200 platform. Each contact switches up to 2 A resistive or inductive across a wide voltage range: 5–250 V AC or 5–30 V DC. That means it handles everything from 24 V DC solenoid valves to 230 V AC contactor coils on the same module — no signal-conditioning board needed between the PLC and the field load. The relay contacts are dry — no solid-state leakage — and the module has no internal short-circuit protection. You supply the external fuse or breaker per channel group. The 11 mA per relay coil draw from the load-side L+ supply keeps the backplane bus load low: 120 mA max from the 5 V DC rail.
Current production — no obsolescence risk
Lifecycle status is current. No end-of-life notice, no last-time-buy deadline. This is the SIPIUS variant — the extended-temperature, coated-board version of the standard 6ES7222-1HF32-0XB0. If your BOM already uses the 6ES7 part, the 6AG1 drops in as a direct replacement with the same footprint and wiring, but adds the -40 to 70 °C range and conformal coating for condensation or corrosive-gas environments.
Diagnostic alarm and supply-voltage monitoring are built in. The module reports a missing load supply or a blown fuse on the backplane bus — no extra wiring for a status contact. Maximum cable length is 500 m shielded, 150 m unshielded.
