Module and its ratings
The 6AG1223-1PH32-2XB0 is an 8-input / 8-output SIPLUS version of the S7-1200 digital combo module, built for extended ambient conditions: operating from -40 °C up to 70 °C. That temperature range is the main reason you'd pick this over the standard 6ES7223 variant — it's rated for unheated enclosures, freezer areas, or solar-exposed cabinets. Each of the eight relay outputs switches loads up to 250 V AC or 30 V DC, with channel-to-channel isolation via actual relays, not optocouplers. Input side is 24 V DC sink/source, 2.5 mA minimum signal current at 15 V DC. The module draws 5.5 W typical from the backplane.
Wiring and mounting notes
The module requires a front connector — not included — which mates to the 45 mm wide housing. Unshielded cable runs up to 150 m; shielded up to 500 m. Relay output lamp loads: 200 W AC, 30 W DC. Short-circuit protection must be provided externally; there is no internal fuse or PTC. The IP20 housing is suited for clean, dry control cabinets only. Fall height in package is 0.3 m five times — handle the box accordingly, but the module itself is rugged enough for routine panel assembly.
