Fail-safe output module for harsh environments
The 6AG1226-6DA32-5XB0: It provides 4 fail-safe digital outputs, each rated for 2 A at 24 VDC, with PROFIsafe communication for safety functions up to SIL 3 (IEC 61508) and Category 4, PL e (ISO 13849-1). The conformal coating (IPC-CC-830A Class A) and resistance to coolants, lubricants, salt spray, and harmful gases (ANSI/ISA-71.04 Level GX group A/B) mean this module is designed for applications like machining centers, automotive production lines, or chemical processing where standard modules would fail.
Electrical and environmental ratings
The module draws up to 125 mA from the backplane bus (5 VDC) and up to 170 mA from the load voltage L+ (24 VDC), with a permissible supply range of 20.4 to 28.8 VDC. Typical power loss is 8 W. Outputs are short-circuit protected, with a signal "1" permissible range of 10 mA to 2.4 A and a residual current for signal "0" of 0.5 mA max (both P-switch and M-switch). Maximum switching frequency on lamp load is 10 Hz, on resistive load 30 Hz. Environmental resilience includes IP20 protection, installation altitude up to 2000 m, and a permissible temperature change rate of 3°C per minute between 5°C and 55°C. The module withstands a 0.3 m drop (five times, in its package).
Physical fit and integration
Unshielded and shielded cable lengths are both rated for a maximum of 200 m, giving flexibility for remote field devices within a machine cell. This is a direct drop-in replacement for the standard 6ES7226-6DA32-0XB0 in the same S7-1200 rack, with the same wiring and PROFIsafe configuration — no panel rewiring needed when upgrading to the SIPLUS variant.
