What this SIPLUS analog input module covers
The Siemens 6AG1231-4HD30-2XB0 is a SIPLUS analog input module delivering four differential current or voltage inputs. It handles 0 to 20 mA, ±10 V, ±5 V, and ±2.5 V ranges—nearly all common process signals without extra adapters. The module is rated for extended ambient temperature from -40 °C to 70 °C, so it fits outdoor cabinets, cold storage, or unconditioned plant areas where standard modules would derate. Diagnostic alarms and parameterizable measuring steps (low, medium, high, none) give visibility to signal health. CE and FM approvals are on record; IP20 protects against finger contact but not moisture, so mount inside an enclosure.
Mounting, power, and wiring boundaries
The module sits on standard DIN rail—45 mm wide, 100 mm high, 75 mm deep. It draws 45 mA typical from the 24 V DC backplane (rated value 24 V DC; power loss 1.5 W). A front connector is required (ordered separately). Common-mode voltage between inputs is limited to 12 V max; keep the input differential within that window to avoid measurement clipping. No internal resistance thermometer or thermocouple support—this is current/voltage only. The wire-break detection is not present, but the module does monitor its own supply voltage and flags a diagnostic alarm on fault.
