FM 8 function blocks and CFC for process loops
The 6AG1313-5BG04-2AY0 carries 8 function blocks (FM 8) and supports Continuous Function Chart (CFC) programming — that combination means you can build closed-loop control sequences without ladder logic for every loop. For a molding cell, CFC lets you wire the pressure and temperature PID blocks visually, then map them to the ±20 mA or ±10 V analog inputs without writing STL or SCL for the signal chain.
253 inputs, 250 outputs, and the I²t limit
This CPU addresses 253 digital inputs and 250 digital outputs — that is the full S7-300 mid-range I/O count, enough for a 16-station rotary table with local valve banks and sensor arrays. The I²t rating of 0.7 A²·s governs the internal backplane fuse; if you exceed that during a short on the 24 V sensor supply, the CPU trips before the external breaker clears. Plan the field power budget so the total inrush stays under that threshold.
EN 50155 railway certification and temperature range
The SIPLUS variant carries EN 50155 certification covering sections 4, 5, and 12, which qualifies it for rolling-stock and trackside installations — T1 temperature class, Category 1, Class A/B. No PROFIsafe — this is a standard safety-rated CPU, not a failsafe controller.
STEP 7 version and programming languages
Requires STEP 7 V5.5 + SP1 or higher, or V5.3 + SP2 with HSP 203. Supports LAD, FBD, STL, SCL, GRAPH, and HiGraph — the full IEC 61131-3 set plus the state-graph tool for sequential process steps. MPI is on board for programming and HMI connection; RS 485 handles the Pt 100 temperature probes directly without an external converter.
