What it is and where it runs
The 6AG1314-1AG14-2AY0: It supports all the usual S7-300 programming languages—LAD, FBD, STL, SCL, GRAPH, HiGraph, and CFC—and communicates via MPI, integrated RS485, or additional CPs (PtP up to 8, LAN up to 10). The onboard I/O count handles 256 inputs and 256 outputs, with up to 12 overall modules in the rack.
How it compares to the standard CPU 314
The standard 6ES7314-1AF10-0AB0 shares the same core logic, backplane interface, and dimensions (40 mm wide, 125 mm high, 130 mm deep). The difference is environmental: the 6AG variant adds the -40°C floor, a 70°C ceiling, ATEX, and full EN 50155 rail compliance. If your panel is in a conditioned room with no spec for hazardous locations or vibration, the standard CPU will do the job. For a BOM that requires those certifications or wider temperature margins, this is the only drop-in that doesn't need rewiring.
Sourcing and supply reality
This part sits outside the normal Siemens catalog stocking rotation—it's a specialty ruggedized variant, not a standard fast mover. We source it via our network of Siemens-authorized and independent channels against a firm RFQ. If you're building a critical spare kit for a rail or process application, quote it now; the supply for extreme-temperature S7-300 CPUs is tighter than for the benign environment version.
