Extended temperature range for harsh environments
The Siemens 6AG1314-1AG14-7AB0 is an S7-300 CPU 314 in the SIPLUS extreme variant, rated for an operating ambient of -40 °C to 70 °C — a 50 °C wider span than the standard 6ES7314-1AG14-0AB0, which tops out at 60 °C. That extra headroom on the low end matters when the panel sits in an unheated substation or a cold-weather skid; the 70 °C ceiling holds the CPU on the grid even when the enclosure is cooking next to a steam line or a hot process vessel.
ATEX and CE for hazardous-area deployment
The ATEX marking and CE mark are the regulatory backbone here: this CPU can be installed in Zone 2 / Zone 22 gas and dust atmospheres, provided the enclosure meets the relevant protection concept. The CE mark confirms conformity with the applicable EU directives — a prerequisite for any plant in the European Economic Area.
Compact 40 mm footprint for tight panels
At 40 mm wide, 125 mm tall, and 130 mm deep, this CPU occupies one slot in the S7-300 DIN-rail profile — the same footprint as the standard 314. It mates with the standard backplane bus; no adapter or spacer is needed. The 24 VDC power supply connects via the front-panel connector; the MPI/DP port (RS 485) and the optional CP interfaces (up to 4 via CP, 10 LAN CPs, 8 PtP CPs) plug into the same rack.
