What this SIPLUS CPU is and where you'd use it
The Siemens 6AG1314-6CH04-7AB0 is a SIPLUS version of the S7-314 CPU, built for extended temperature environments and hazardous-area installations. It carries FM 8, ATEX certification, and supports all major S7-300 programming languages: CFC, FBD, LAD, SCL, STL, GRAPH, and HiGraph. The wide temperature range from -40 °C to 70 °C means it keeps running in cold storage, outdoor cabinets, or near process heat that would cook a standard S7-314. Communication is via Profibus DP through a CP card — MPI is not available on this variant. The CPU handles 244 bytes each of input and output data, and supports routing only with an active interface. For STEP 7 integration, you need V5.5 + SP1 or higher, or V5.3 + SP2 with HSP 203. If your existing project was built on a standard S7-314, verify the firmware and version compatibility before swapping.
Mounting and panel fit – same footprint as the standard 314
This SIPLUS CPU shares the standard S7-300 form factor: 120 mm wide, 125 mm high, 130 mm deep. It clips onto the same DIN rail and backplane as any standard S7-300 CPU. If your panel was wired for a 6ES7314-1AF10-0AB0, this drops in mechanically without rewiring — same rack slot, same backplane connector. The extended temperature range and ATEX rating will require updated panel documentation (type examination certificate). Confirm that the enclosure's IP rating and thermal management still match the SIPLUS ambient limits.
