Module identity and switching limits
The Siemens 6AG1322-5HF00-4AB0 is an 8-channel relay output module switching loads up to 5 A per channel at up to 230 V AC or 24 V DC, with a temperature range of -40 to 70 °C. Each relay contact can handle inductive loads (5 A at 230 V DC or 24 V AC) and resistive loads (5 A), but external short-circuit protection is mandatory — no internal fusing or self-protection is provided.
Production status and BOM fit
This module is in active current production, so no last-time buy or obsolescence risk is on the horizon. When freezing a BOM line, factor in the 40-pin front connector requirement (ordered separately) and the external short-circuit protection — a 5 A fuse or miniature circuit breaker per channel keeps the wiring simple.
Environmental and compliance notes
Rated for operation from -40 to 70 °C, which covers most unheated cabinets. The module also carries UL recognition (File E239877), CE, KC, EAC, and RCM approvals, so it qualifies for panels destined for North America, Europe, or Asia without additional re-certification. Channel-to-channel isolation is provided, which prevents a single grounded load from taking out the whole bank — useful in multi-valve junction boxes.
Power budget and diagnostics
Typical power loss is 3.5 W. The backplane draws up to 100 mA at 5 V DC, plus the module draws up to 160 mA from the L+ supply; verify your system power supply still has headroom if you're populating a heavily loaded rack. Diagnostics are parameterizable — you can enable group error (SF red LED) and diagnostic alarm reporting per channel. That helps pin a stuck relay quickly without a test lamp.
