What it powers and where it fits
The Siemens 6AG1407-0KA02-7AA0 is a SIPLUS S7-400 power supply — the ruggedized version of the standard PS 407, built for extended-temperature and harsh-condition installations. It occupies 2 slots in an S7-400 rack and delivers the 5 V DC backplane bus current (up to 10 A, no base load required) and 24 V DC backplane current (up to 1 A, idling-proof) that the rack and its I/O modules need to run.
Temperature range with the battery box
Without that battery box, the backup battery option is limited to 0 °C to +60 °C using 2× lithium AA cells (3.6 V/2.3 Ah). For the full -25 °C to +70 °C and/or 100 % RH, you need the external battery box and 2× MONO cell design D cells. That makes the battery box a mandatory line item if your site sees sub-zero starts or sustained high humidity.
AC and DC input flexibility
This supply accepts both AC and DC inputs: 120 V AC (0.9 A), 230 V AC (0.5 A), 120 V DC (1 A), and 230 V DC (0.5 A). It handles 50/60 Hz (47 Hz to 63 Hz permissible). The active power input is 95 W typ, with a typical power loss of 20 W. Inrush current hits 63 A max at full width half maximum of 1 ms — factor that into your upstream breaker coordination.
