SIPLUS S7-400 PS407 — conformal coated for harsh environments
The 6AG1407-0KR02-4AA0: This is the SIPLUS variant of the standard 6ES7407-0KR02-0AA0 PS407 power supply, distinguished by conformal coating on the PCB assembly. The coating protects against condensation, corrosive gases, and dust ingress — a common requirement in food-and-bev, chemical, and offshore installations where the standard unit would risk tracking failures over time. Rated for redundant use, the unit occupies 2 slots in an S7-400 rack and delivers 5 V DC at up to 10 A to the backplane bus with no base load required, plus 24 V DC at up to 1 A for I/O or interface modules. The wide-range input accepts 120 V AC, 230 V AC, 110 V DC, or 230 V DC without jumper changes — the auto-sensing primary handles 50/60 Hz from 47 to 63 Hz. Typical power loss is 20 W, with a maximum inrush current of 63 A (1 ms half-width).
Backplane bus capacity and battery backup
The 5 V DC backplane bus is rated for 10 A continuous — sufficient for a fully loaded S7-400 rack with CPU, multiple I/O, and communication processors. The 24 V DC bus supplies 1 A and is idling-proof, meaning it holds regulation even with no load. Both rails are short-circuit protected. An optional backup battery (2x lithium AA, 3.6 V / 2.3 Ah) maintains the RAM and real-time clock during mains interruptions. The unit holds the output for 20 ms on mains failure per the stored energy time spec, and supports NAMUR buffering recommendations for process-industry brownout ride-through.
Environmental range and altitude derating
The operating temperature range is 0 °C to 60 °C at standard atmospheric pressure (1,080 hPa to 795 hPa, corresponding to -1,000 m to +2,000 m altitude). Above 2,000 m, the maximum ambient temperature derates by 10 K up to 3,500 m, and by 20 K up to 5,000 m — a critical consideration for high-altitude installations or unventilated cabinets in warm climates.
