What this SIPLUS S7-400 power supply does in the panel
The 6AG1407-0KR02-7AA0: It occupies two slots in a S7-400 rack and delivers up to 10 A on the 5 V backplane bus with no base load required, plus 1 A on the 24 V backplane bus. Input flexibility covers 120 V AC, 230 V AC, 120 V DC, and 230 V DC — a single unit handles both AC and DC mains, which simplifies stocking for panels that ship to sites with different utility feeds.
Temperature range and battery backup — the real-world envelope
Without the external battery box, the standard operating range is 0 °C to +60 °C using internal lithium AA cells. With the SIPLUS battery box 6AG1971-0AA00-7AA0 and MONO D-cell batteries, the range widens to -25 °C to +70 °C, which is the key difference from the standard 6ES7407-0KR02-0AA0. The standard 6ES7407-0KR02-0AA0 is rated for 0 °C to +60 °C and does not carry the SIPLUS extended-temperature or conformal-coating designation. If your application sees sub-zero startups or sustained heat near 70 °C, the 6AG1407-0KR02-7AA0 is the correct choice. Backup battery support is optional but specified: internal 2x lithium AA (3.6 V / 2.3 Ah) for 0 °C to +60 °C, or the external box with 2x MONO D-cells for the full -25 °C to +70 °C range.
Panel fit and electrical integration
Equipment protection class I with protective conductor. Inrush current is 63 A peak (full width at half maximum 1 ms), leakage current max 3.5 mA. Overvoltage category II. Mains buffering per NAMUR recommendation is supported, with a stored-energy time of 20 ms on mains failure. Typical power loss is 20 W; active power input is 95 W typ.
