PLC CPU with failsafe programming and MRP ring support
The 6AG1510-1SJ00-2AB0: This Siemens CPU supports failsafe function block diagram (FBD) and ladder logic (LAD) programming, meaning safety logic can be written directly in the same environment as standard control code without a separate safety controller. It acts as an MRP redundancy manager or client in a ring topology, handling up to 50 devices in the ring — critical for high-availability networks where a single cable break must not drop the line. The 150 KB work memory sets the ceiling for the user program size; for a typical packaging line with 50+ I/O points and PID loops, budget about 60-80 KB, leaving headroom for future changes.
Process image and I/O mapping
All 32 KB of inputs and 32 KB of outputs reside in the process image, so the CPU updates them in one cycle — no separate peripheral access needed for standard digital and analog signals. Forcing is supported, which lets you override an input or output during commissioning without changing the program — useful when testing a valve actuator before the sensor is wired.
Integrated PID control for temperature and valves
Two built-in PID controllers handle temperature loops and valve positioning with integrated optimization — no external controller needed for oven or actuator control.
Dimensions are 100 mm wide, 117 mm high, and 75 mm deep — standard Siemens S7-1500 form factor, so it snaps onto the same DIN rail and mates with the same backplane bus connectors as the rest of the 1500 family. The hardware clock is integrated, keeping time across power cycles without an external time module.
Communication and web server
Supports PROFINET IRT for deterministic I/O update rates, plus MODBUS TCP and UDP for integrating with third-party drives or HMIs. Built-in web server serves standard and user-defined pages over HTTP and HTTPS — useful for remote diagnostics without a programming tool.
