The Siemens 6AG1540-1AD01-7AA0 is a SIPLUS version of the S7-1500 CM PtP RS232 communications module. It adds conformal coating and stretches the ambient range to -40 to +70°C, so it can sit in an unheated cabinet or a damp enclosure without flaking. The base board is the same as the 6ES7540-1AD01-0AA0, meaning it drops into the same slot and uses the same RS-232 wiring — 9-pin D-sub, Freeport, 3964(R), USS up to 19200 bps. If you're replacing a standard CM in a rough environment, this is a drop-in swap that won't need new cable tails.
What makes this one different
The SIPLUS variant adds conformal coating and covers -40 to +70 °C. Same RS-232 performance, same mounting.
Integration note
Mounts in any S7-1500 slot; the 9-pin D-sub is male, RS-232 only. No fieldbus on this module — it's point-to-point serial. Protocols (Freeport, 3964(R), USS) are set in the hardware configuration of TIA Portal. Baud rate maxes at 19200, so plan your data volume accordingly. The conformal coating doesn't change the terminal layout; you can treat the wiring diagram from the standard CM PtP as identical.
