DNP3 communications slice for S7-300
The Siemens 6AG1803-3BA00-7AA0 is a SIPLUS NET TIM 3V-IE DNP3 communications module that fits a single-width slot in a SIMATIC S7-300 rack. It is based on the standard 6NH7803-3BA00-0AA0 but adds conformal coating and a wider ambient temperature range of -25 to +70 °C, making it suitable for installations where condensation, airborne diesel, or cooling lubricants are present. The module provides one Industrial Ethernet interface and an RS-232 port, with native DNP3 protocol support — the DNP3 flag in the spec means it speaks the SCADA protocol directly, no external gateway needed.
Single TIM per rack — plan the slot
The S7-300 backplane accepts only one TIM module per CPU, so this slot is reserved for the telecontrol interface. The module is a compact single-width unit (40 x 125 x 120 mm) that occupies one slot in the rack. Power comes from a 2-pole pluggable terminal block on the module face; the supply voltage is 24 VDC. The module draws 5.8 W, which factors into the rack's total power budget. It supports up to 3 remote stations via LAN and up to 2 PG connections for local engineering access. The SINAUT ST7 ES engineering software is required for configuration.
Active production, quoted to order
The module includes a data buffering function that stores up to 64,000 data points with one master if the connection is aborted, which is useful for remote sites with intermittent connectivity.
